Babies’ skin is so much more delicate than our own! It can get irritated very easily, this is reason enough to choose the very best baby towels that you can get. When you are finished giving a bath to your baby you want to cuddle and dry him in a safe baby towel.
You can use towels made of organic materials like bamboo or organic cotton or even both. Usually these towels are soft and will pamper your baby’s skin, as they do not contain traces of pesticides or fertilizers remaining in their fibers. Bamboo is an excellent choice for towels as it is more absorbent than cotton and a natural repellent to bacteria. Sometimes you will find that bamboo has been mixed with polyester to make the towel softer and a finer texture.
Organic cotton is not to be dismissed as many organic cotton baby towels are very soft and absorbent and are entirely made of the best, safest cotton available. Some have a flannel side to offer a natural comfort.
Flannel is a downy material soft to the touch that has been around for more than 200 years, it was first made in the 18th century in England.
Hooded baby towels are convenient to keep baby’s head warm while you are drying the rest of her body.
To ensure that baby does not catch a cold you can opt for a hooded baby towel. Sizes will vary, but we recommend that you use the size that is appropriate for your baby’s age and size. A bath towel that is large enough to wrap baby completely is the most soothing to your baby. It is nice to be able to wrap the little one in one towel and pat him/her dry with another. Most bath towels are bought with matching wash cloths.
Motifs for baby towels are as varied as there are babies. You will be able to find your favorite characters including Winnie the Pooh bath towels, but not always if you only want to buy organic materials.
Many bath towels for babies and hooded towels are made of hypoallergenic cotton or a blend of cotton and polyester. We would recommend that you choose a lot level of polyester, probably not to exceed 15% but the choice is up to you. Polyester has been cause of some dermatitis, (inflammation of the skin), should you notice redness on you baby’s skin try switching to an all cotton or bamboo fiber baby towel and see if it makes a difference.
Later when your baby is older and can sit by himself/herself if the bath you will be able to find fun bath toys and bath books to keep him/her occupied and happy in the bath.
